Art, science and summer all come together at Padilla Bay.
Art for Learning Wastershed Science offers activities for all ages during a variety of events from Wednesday to June 30 at the Padilla Bay Reserve in Bay View State Park and Breazeale Interpretive Center. The event includes classes for educators to earn credit for continuing education.
Classes include stamping and journal-making, mud flat safaris, wastershed creatures luminaria and more. Registration is required. Some events are free, but others have a fee. Check www.padillabay.gov/pdfs/FlierArt.pdf.
The event concludes on June 30 from noon to 4 p.m. with a free concert featuring Swingnuts Jazz and the Irthlingz. The concert is part of the kickoff celebration for the Skagit Watershed Letterbox Trail, a sort of treasure hunt that lasts all summer long.
Padilla Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve is at 10441 Bayview-Edison Road, Mount Vernon. The Breazeale Interpretive Center is 1/4 mile past the state park.
