The Fourth of July is the worst day of the year to be a dog.
Loud fireworks drive them under beds and into fits of anxiety.
Pets also eat all sorts of things they shouldn’t eat, such as rib bones, corn on the cob and desserts left unattended while humans engage in barbecue fun and games.
Guests are another hazard. With doors opening multiple times and fireworks blasting outside, pets may panic and bolt outside.
Consider a medicine approved for dogs who are especially panicked by fireworks noise. That, and a few beers for you, might just be the tonic needed for a happy holiday.
