Did you know there’s an artifact of the Mayflower in Washington state?

Huh? Don’t you wonder how it got this far from Plymouth, Mass.? Or why? Did every state get a piece?

Unfortunately you can’t visit it because it’s hidden in the cornerstone of Peace Arch Park between the U.S. and Canadian border.

You can find out about this oddity and lots of others when Seattle journalist Harriet Baskas gives a talk at 2 p.m. March 15 at the Everett Public Library.

Baskas is the author of “Hidden Treasures: What Museums Can’t or Won’t Show You” in which talks about the missing links: 90 percent of museum collections that they don’t have room to display.

Baskas other books include “Washington Curiosities: Quirky Characters, Roadside Oddities &Other Offbeat Stuff,” and “Atomic Marbles and Branding Irons: Museums, Collections, and Curiosities in Washington and Oregon.”

The free presentation will be in Everett Public Library auditorium, 2702 Hoyt Ave., Everett. For more information, call 425-257-8000. See www.epls.org for other library events.
