Everett library to present talks about Picasso, newsboys

You can spend the weekend at the library to check out these two events:

Pablo Picasso’s influence on 20th century art is well known as is his infamous life. The Frye Museum’s Rebecca Albiani offers a presentation on Picasso, his work and life, at 2 p.m. today at the Everett Public Library.

Albiani is an art historian with degrees from the University of California at Berkeley and Stanford University. She’s also a former Fulbright Scholar and received a lecturing fellowship from the Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.

Everett resident Sandra Walker will talk about and sign her book, “Little Merchants: The Golden Era of Youth Delivering Newspapers” at 2 p.m. Sunday at the library.

Walker’s book details the history of newsboys in America, who managed small businesses that collectively had millions of customers.

Newspaper routes were first jobs for many American kids, teaching them the value of responsibility both financially and socially.

Copies of Walker’s book will be for sale. It lists at $16.95.

Both events take place in the main library auditorium, 2702 Hoyt Ave., Everett.
