After releasing 36 (basically) instrumental tracks to his fans for (near to) nothing, Trent Reznor’s back with that ever-sassy blend of techno and industrial rock.

His new single, “Discipline,” is available for free through a special Nine Inch Nails site. Reznor urges people to download it and then “take your shirt off and dance to it.” OK!

The single, which was also released to radio stations, covers familiar ground for Reznor. He sings about wearing down, losing touch, and wanting some discipline, all over a typical NIN beat and distorted guitar.

The single isn’t the only thing in the works for NIN. On his site, Reznor teases fans with surprises to come: A possible Web cast of him signing rare albums (thrilling!) and an unknown happening he simply calls “something else.”

The “something else” could tie into more new material, considering the song “Discipline” is from an album titled by a question mark – as if the actual release might end up with a name.

In another two weeks, more info could come, Rolling Stone suggests.

Reznor also says a tour is in the works. Granted, he’s already on deck as one of several high-profile headliners for the Pemberton Festival this summer in British Columbia.
