Get a glimpse of Tongass rain forest

Award-winning photographer, writer and naturalist Amy Gulick presents a program on her journey to one of the rarest ecosystems on Earth, Alaska’s Tongass rain forest, at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Northwest Stream Center.

Gulick’s spent years photographing the bears, whales, Mative cultures and harbor towns, as well as the flora and fauna of the region.

The photos and stories she collected resulted in her book, “Salmon in the Trees,” which has essays from conservationists and scientists, and illustrations by Ray Troll. A book signing ($29.95) follows her presentation.

The presentation is geared for middle-schoolers youth on up. Come along and find out where her title “Salmon in the Trees” comes from. Reservations are required by calling 425-316-8592. Cost is $5 for Adopt A Stream Foundation Members and $7 for nonmembers.

Proceeds benefit the Adopt A Stream Foundation’s Streamkeeper Academy. For more information on other great Streamkeeper Academy events go to www.streamkeeper.org.

The Northwest Stream Center is at 600 128th St. SE at McCollum Park in Everett.
