Nearly 20 years ago, Machias drummer Jon Fosdick wrote and recorded a bunch of songs.
His friend Joe Kurke offered to sing, “because I don’t sing worth a damn,” Fosdick said.
That’s the origin story of Dogleg Preacher, a hard-rocking band that often plays Snohomish County clubs, including a gig Saturday at Collector’s Choice in Snohomish.
The band did well, getting airplay worldwide.
Then, about five years ago, Fosdick suffered a seizure and was out of commission for more than a year. He was diagnosed with an abscess.
Fosdick used his recovery time to write a new batch of songs for the aptly named recording, “Abscess.”
Now, the rock band, which includes bassist Vogard Kane and guitarist David Skorupa, is working on a third album.
Hear the new songs and much more starting at 9 p.m. Saturday at the Collector’s Choice Restaurant, 215 Cypress Ave., Snohomish. No cover.
