Are you an artist who has longed to light up Everett?
The city of Everett is looking for artists to design and create sculptural-type lighting along Hoyt Avenue, part of which the city is referring to as Everett’s Arts & Festivals Street.
The three-block section of Hoyt is anchored by the Everett Public Library, Artspace – 40 artist lofts and studios — the Imagine Children’s Museum and, opening in April, The Schack Art Center, a 30,000 square foot, multi-use regional arts center where there will be glass blowing and lots of art exhibit space.
So Hoyt Avenue will become a lightning rod for the city’s arts scene. So the city needs street lighting elements with a sculptural flare – a set of 11 lighted sculptural pieces that will live along these three blocks of Hoyt.
The budget for the project is: $110,000 for the 11 lights, which includes artist’s fee. Submissions must be received by March 18 and mailed to:Carol Thomas, Cultural Arts Manager, City of Everett, 2930 Wetmore Avenue, 10-A, Everett, WA. 98201.
Installation is planned for this summer.
For more details on the proposal go to the city’s website.
