Skagit Valley Tulip Festival: begins April 1 and runs through April 30. The tulips bloom according to their own schedule sometime during the festival. Fruit workshop: The Western Cascade Fruit Society is sponsoring a seminar from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 5 at the Cedar Valley Grange, 20526 52nd Ave. W., Lynnwood. The seminars feature sessions on growing cherries in Western Washington, the spotted wing drosophila and making a trap for the pest. Hellebores and more: The Oak Harbor Garden Club will feature Mary Fisher, owner of Cultus Bay Nursery &Gardens, talking about hellebores and other interesting plants at 11:30 p.m. April 8 at the monthly meeting at the First United Methodist Church, 1050 SE Ireland, Oak Harbor. The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. and is open to all.
