ID artifacts on Jan. 25 at Burke Museum

The Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture in Seattle is holding Artifact ID Day on Jan. 25.

The museum’s experts will provide information about Native American, Pacific Island and Southeast Asian baskets, blankets and cultural artifacts, as well as archaeological materials, fossils, rocks, minerals and bones.

See what’s lurking in your attic. Bring your items, a limit of three per visitor, to the museum between 1 and 3:30 p.m. Jan. 25. No appraisals will be given and the Burke Museum does not authenticate items for sale.

Past Artifact ID days have uncovered many treasures and rare items including a 5,000-year-old tool and twined Tlingit doll.

The Burke Museum is at the corner of NE 45th Street and 17th Avenue NE on the University of Washington campus.

The ID event is included with museum admission: $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $7.50 for students with ID and children 5 and up.

Call 206-543-5590 or go to www.burkemuseum.org for more information.
