There’s a YouTube video of juggler Rhys Thomas explaining to an audience that he doesn’t do the knife juggling until the end of the show.
That’s because if he makes a mistake with the knives at the beginning of an act, then he has to spend the rest of the show going “Aaaaaaaah!! Aaaaaaah! Aaaaah!”
Thomas does juggle knives, while standing on a ladder of steps made of swords.
He also juggles fiery torches, balls and bowling pins — while riding a really tall unicycle — bowls, plates and yo-yos. It would seem there isn’t an object Thomas hasn’t tried to toss around.
Thomas does all this while producing a running commentary of jokes and puns, some that sail over the heads of the youngsters but are irreverently geared for the adults to enjoy.
The Whidbey Island Center for the Arts Family Series will present “JuggleMania” at 7:30 p.m. May 7 at WICA, 565 Camano Ave., Langley.
