Today’s Herald dining review — The Red Onion in Mountlake Terrace — brings to mind one of the most delectable topics for foodie debate: Who makes the best burgers and WHY?
Honestly, there are very few burgers I’d kick out of bed. I like everything from low-end fast food classics such as McDonald’s double quarter pounders to high-end ground duck sliders at Tilth in Seattle.
I was a HUGE fan of Five Guys Burgers and Fries (which I recently reviewed), a new arrival with two new locations in Snohomish County.
Some folks are obsessed with the meat, while others dote on the whole package deal, how the ingredients go together, including condiment, meat, cheese and toppings ratios, plus the all-important bun.
Others find that sides, such as waffle fries, onion rings and cheesy tater tots, are what tip the scales to make one’s burger joint a true favorite.
I must say, I’ll be heading to The Red Onion to try their deep fried mushrooms, one of my favorite fried treats in the world.
