“Rigoletto”: The Skagit Opera presents Giuseppe Verdi’s first opera from through Oct. 20 at McIntyre Hall, 2501 E. College Way, Mount Vernon. “Rigoletto,” based on a play by Victor Hugo, tells the story of the deformed court jester seeking revenge for his beautiful daughter’s seducer. Tickets are $15 to $59. “The Daughter of the Regiment”: Seattle Opera presents this Donizetti opera Oct. 19 through Nov. 2 in French with English subtitles. Tomboy Marie is forced to become a lady in this light-hearted opera. “Bright Ideas”: The Phoenix Theatre Company presents this comedy Oct. 18 through Nov. 10. A couple will do just about anything to get their 3-year-old into the “right” preschool. Performances are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sundays. “Christmas Belles”: The Reunion Theatre Group presents a holiday comedy Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays Oct. 25 to Nov. 10. at the Everett Music Hall Playhouse. Three Texas sisters wrangle over the annual Christmas pageant. Performances are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sundays. “Blithe Spirit”: The Whidbey Island Center for the Arts presents the Noel Coward comedy through Oct. 26. A grumpy fuss-budget writer is haunted by the ghost of his first wife. “Anything Goes”: The Cole Porter classic, recently redone on Broadway, runs through Nov. 3 at The 5th Avenue Theatre. The ’30s musical features a shipful of lovers and liars singing, dancing and scheming to such tunes as “You’re the Top,” “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “It’s De-Lovely” and “Anything Goes.” Performances are Tuesdays through Sundays with tickets from $29 to $109.75 at www.5thavenue.org or call the box office at 206-625-1900. “The Matchmaker”: Thornton Wilder’s romantic comedy is about love, money and the love of money. Dolly Levi is a romance broker who sets her own cap for the wealthy Mr. Horace Vandergelder, who is looking for a new wife. “The Servant of Two Masters”: The classic Italian farce from the 1740s runs through Oct. 20 at Seattle Repertory Theater, 155 Mercer St., Seattle. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays, with 2 p.m. matinees on most Saturdays and Sundays and select Wednesdays. “Sugar Daddies”: Famed English playwright Alan Ayckbourn directs the American premiere of his play at ACT Theatre through Nov. 3. The dark comedy takes on Faustian characteristics when a naive young woman gets entangled with an older man. “Much Ado About Nothing”: The Seattle Shakespeare Company presents Shakespeare’s comic and romantic play Oct. 23 to Nov. 17 at the Center Theatre at Seattle Center. 305 Harrison St. This version, however, is set on the Riviera in the ’50s with original music by Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra’s Michael Brockman and a water-filled lagoon in the theater. Performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays and selected Sundays. Auditions: The Whidbey Island Center for the Arts is seeking three boys and one girl, ages 9 to 17, and four young men, age 17, for roles in Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town.” No previous acting experience is necessary, Actors may prepare one- to two-minute pieces from the play or read directly from the script, which will be provided. Auditions for the younger kids are from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Auditions for the young men will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
