Gather in Gold Bar Aug. 11 and 12 for Fronderosa Frolic, the annual Northwest plant festival that brings together gardeners and experts on the grounds of Fancy Fronds Nursery.

Nurseries from all over the state will be on hand with their specialties, including bulbs and perennials, carnivorous plants, orchids, fuchsias, hostas, sedum, desert plants and many more.

Garden artists will be bringing glass and metal pieces, twig furniture and botanical art.

Proceeds from a raffle of plants and garden art will benefit NW Equine Stewardship Center, which Fancy Fronds owner, Judith Jones, says is in honor of all the manure over the years that helps to grow their lush ferns.

The frolicking begins at 10 a.m. both days and goes until 3 p.m. Fancy Fronds Nursery is off U.S. 2, east of Gold Bar. Go to for directions or call 360-793-1472. Carpooling is recommended.
