Pick up free comics for kids and adults today

Today is Free Comic Book Day.

Head to your local comic book shop and pick up a superhero adventure, a kid-friendly favorite or an adult graphic comic to while away an afternoon.

Titles such as “Iron Man,” Superman,” “Doctor Solar,” “Toy Story” and “Shrek” will be free for the asking.

Step into a time warp with “Archie,” the evergreen high schooler. He’s still wearing his preppie sweaters and hanging with his BFFs, Jughead, Veronica and Betty.

Biggie publishers like DC, Marvel and Dark Horse Comics are creating special titles for the ninth annual national event.

Brian Meredith, co-owner of The Comic Stop in Lynnwood, said he’s bringing in about 30 different comic titles, including reprinted classics and brand-new stories for collectors, too.
