Rescuer to discuss how he and eagle saved each other

Jeff Guidry and Freedom the Eagle share a common bond: They are survivors.

Guidry helped Freedom survive after she fell from her nest as a fledgling and broke both wings. And Guidry believes Freedom gave him positive energy to fight and win his battle with cancer.

These survivors will tell their story at a Streamkeeper Academy event Saturday in Everett.

Guidry presentation covers the eagles’ habits and habitat, and how they can best be protected. He will also talk about his relationship with Freedom, which he describes in his book, “An Eagle Named Freedom: My True Story of a Remarkable Friendship.”

Guidry is a member of the board of directors of Sarvey Wildlife Center and has spent time working with bears and cougars as well as eagles, rehabilitating injured wildlife.

Freedom likes a crowd and to have her picture taken so bring the family.

The show event begins at 11 a.m. Saturday at the NW Stream Center Auditorium at McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett.

Reservations are required by calling 425-316-8592. It’s $5 for Adopt A Stream Foundation members and $7 for nonmembers. There will be a book signing after the show.
