50 years ago (1963)
A.M. Glassberg was unanimously elected chairman of the Everett Park Board. Hans Anderson was named vice president and Tom Borgford was officially seated. John Hall was reappointed park superintendent and Lillian Hoiby continued as secretary to the board.
Production of Fros-T-Dogs, the ice cream confection manufactured in Snohomish, was expected to triple this spring. AAA Confections Association, housed in the former Darigold plant, now distributed each month 5,000 to 7,000 of the ice cream bars. Darigold was the major distributor.
25 years ago (1988)
The old Western Gear building on the Everett waterfront came tumbling down at the 117-acre Navy base site. Workers had spent 7,650 hours preparing for the demolition, part of a $26.4 million construction contract.
A brainstorming session on the future of Edmonds would be held tomorrow by the 20/20 Task Force at the Puget Sound Christian college. The price was $6 and included lunch.
