Ready to serve Mr. and Mrs. Marysville at the new branch of First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Everett were Roy H. Millar, Carolyn Thompson and Joyce Knowles. First Federal was located at 2702 Colby Ave. Another branch was located on Main St. in Edmonds.
In other bank news C.G. Cockburn, president of the Bank of Lake Stevens, today announced the sale of the bank to Everett Trust and Saving Bank. The Bank of Lake Stevens was organized in 1914 and Cockburn had been with it since 1922.
25 years ago (1988)
Beth Day, a Stanwood High School senior, would represent Snohomish county in the state contest of the VFW “Voice of Democracy” speech contest. It was the fifth year in a row a Stanwood student had won the county competition.
Herald carriers of the quarter were named. They were Paul Wagar of Everett and Chris Balzer of Mill Creek. Those earning honorable mention were Keith Delisle, Lisa Berndt, Shannon Chester and Karl Schweizer, Everett; Greg DeFouw, Mukilteo; Lane Hundley, Snohomish; Eric Stuller, Marysville; Jason Jakobsen and Brian White, Edmonds; and Jeff Bronson, Mountlake Terrace.
