Members of Everett Institute No. 69, Young Ladies Institute were looking forward to the installation of officers tomorrow. Frauna Hoglund was past president and Sandra Crippen was president.
“Wool Fashions for Spring” was the theme for a show set for tomorrow mornin
g in the home economics rooms of Evergreen Junior High School, as the sophomore girls of the new Cascade High School displayed the garments they constructed during the spring semester. Marjorie Shively was the instructor. Models included Mary Bickel, Ardys Stephenson and Judy Friend.
25 years ago (1986)
Snohomish County’s tourist-related businesses had reason to expect a good summer. Rand McNally recently named Puget Sound as the country’s top tourist destination. Expo ’86 had opened in Vancouver, B.C. Worries over terrorism were keeping travelers from going abroad.
Clint Carnell and Jamie Gay each had a goal and assist in a three-goal Cascade first half as the Bruin soccer team advanced in the state AAA semifinals with a 5-2 victory over Roosevelt at Federal Way. They would next play defending state champion Thomas Jefferson in Seattle.
