50 years ago (1962)
Lois Kohne’s kindergarten pupils at Longfellow School got in a few last practice whirls at “Carol of the Beasts” just before parents were admitted to the group’s Christmas program. Students included Kari Lockhart, Tami Ray, Franklin Nelson and Vickie Holder. Their teacher played the autoharp.
National winner in the Young Hobby Club’s State Capitals Contest published Nov. 21 was 12-year-old Larry Duren, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Duren, 615 58th St. His prize was a 12-volume set of the Encyclopedia Britannica “Great Books for Children” and the local prize, a rabbit’s foot keychain.
25 years ago (1987)
Northwest Airlines envision classical but stylish interiors in the new 747-400s they order from Boeing. To create the professional interior Boeing turned to its consultants, Walter Dorwin Teague Associates in its Everett office, located in the heart of the Boeing assembly plant.
Gene Ensign was 165 pins over his average with a 642 series in the Tuesday Senior league at Glacier Lanes in Everett. Ensign rolled high games of 247 and 231. In other bowling news Ed Gorney rolled a 258 game in the Friday Seniors at Glacier.
