50 years ago (1962)

The weather last Tuesday night reminded Everett Toastmasters Club No. 117 there was no room for foggy minds in public speaking. Clear thinking was exhibited instead as Topicmaster George Karas conducted a session of storytelling at the meeting in Alpine Cafeteria. Claude Albright, a guest and former member, responded along with regular members.

The Everett High School A Capella Choir would sing during the school Christmas Vespers program in Civic Auditorium, under the direction of Marguerite Snavely. Officers of the choir were Judy Holmstrom, president; Dale Bornkamp, vice president; Ginny Baker, secretary, and Vernita Christensen, treasurer.

25 years ago (1987)

At Oak Harbor, Kris Klarich scored 18 points as Everett won its Wesco AAA opener. Teammates Erin Gilbert added 15 points, Brenda Schmidt 12 and Chris Lyons 10. Everett was 8-for-13 from the field in the first period and 15-for-23 in the first half. The Seagulls were 3-1 overall.

Stovies Stove Shop &Hardware at 1922 Hewitt Ave. advertised The Sunburst by Dover. The zero clearance cast iron fireplace was a state-of-the-art design. An optional upper grille was available in brass or matching color.
