50 years ago (1962)

Frances Bean, Dorcas Society director, and Beatrice Redding, Lake Stevens were packing boxed of clothing a quilts for distribution here and abroad. They were among many of the Seventh Day Adventist Health and Welfare Center who were busy on the project. Secretary Marie Byram said over 2,000 hours had been donated at the center, 2201 Wetmore Ave.

Authorization to establish a junior college was given to the Edmonds School District yesterday by the State Board of Education. Previously only one such school had been allowed in any one county. Because of the skyrocketing growth in south county, a second was authorized.

25 years ago (1987)

If Everett gathered additional tax revenue it would spend it on the following: community center, library land acquisition, library utilities, Forest Park reforestation, Floral hall rehabilitation, Reservoirs No. 3 and No. 5, W.E. Hall Park soccer fields, Kasch Park softball fields, Silver Lake restoration, tire fire site soccer fields, museum and Riverfront Park.

Western Roundup Boots &Western Gear at the Everett and Alderwood malls was having a Justin snakeskin boot sale. Regularly $264.95, they were now $179.95 with silver or gold top tip included.
