50 years ago (1962)
Wally Wise, whose decorating of Everett Trust and Savings Bank at Christmastime had attracted widespread attention over the past several years, was at it again this year. He also decorated the bank’s branches on North Broadway and in Oak Harbor.
More than 130 girls in Everett High School organizations were to march in the downtown area Dec. 15 to support the Snohomish County Blood Bank. Among the girls were Lynda Hart, Cathy Reinell and Leslie Mincks.
25 years ago (1987)
Bill Trimm, former planning director in Whatcom County, was named Mill Creek’s director of community development, filling a new position recently approved by the City Council. One of his responsibilities would be managing the building, parks and recreation, and public works departments.
The lights were back on in Skykomish after power outages on both sides of the Cascades created havoc for residents along Highway 2 as well as skiers at Stevens Pass. The town was without electricity for nearly 24 hours after high winds blew trees onto a power line.
