50 years ago (1962)

The Snohomish County Community Theater awarded three $150 scholarship to three county college students who planned to study some area of theater. The scholarships went to James Reader and Dave Councilman of Everett and Jeff Craggs of Granite Falls.

Coach Walt Price had seven returning veterans for his Everett Junior College football team this fall. They were Mike Potter, end; Chuck Petterson, tackle; Terry Garling, guard; Danny Feek, halfback; Jim Campbell, quarterback; Dwight Lewis, guard; and Dennis Scafe, fullback.

25 years ago (1987)

Karen Phillips Wick, court administrator of Evergreen District Court for Snohomish County for the past 17 years was elected vice-president of the National Association of Court Management. The honor came at the recent annual meeting of the association in Portland.

A fountain in the center of the Everett Mall, which produced over $3,000 a year in coins for the Volunteers of America food bank, was to be removed for the mall’s expansion project. Bertha Patapoff, VOA food bank director, and Nan Eskenazi Day, mall marketing director, were urging folks to get their last coin tosses in this weekend.
