50 years ago (1962)
Four Arne Jensen watercolors had just been hung at the Cuthbertson Gallery, 2936 Colby Ave. They were “The Captain’s House,” “Ocean Harvest,” “Crowned Heads” and “Ballard Bricks.” A master of watercolor technique, Jensen delighted in painting in Everett and all up and down the Pacific Coast.
The Normanna Lodge annual bazaar was taking place this weekend in its hall, 2725 Oakes Ave. There would be merchandise, baking, fancy work and white elephant booths. The lodge members were asked to donate to the booths.
25 years ago (1987)
An educational program to prepare American students for careers involving Japanese-American trade was formally dedicated at the Everett Pacific Hotel in a ceremony attended by Gov. Booth Gardner. The Nippon Business Institute at Everett Community College would instruct selected students in Japanese culture and business practices.
Pizza for abut 120 people was served yesterday at the Everett headquarters of Volunteers of America, thanks to Little Caesar’s Pizza chain. It was World Food Day and the chain donated pizza to non-profit organizations and soup kitchens in 250 cities. It was well received according to Bertha Patapoff, county food bank coordinator at VOA.
