50 years ago (1962)
In her Everett High’s Seagulls column, Nancy Lauer wrote about summer band travel scholarships. Among those receiving them were Dan Rupert, Jon Hautimaki, Alan Bribos, Carolin Mattox, Jean Bellus, Ed Crull, George Bornkamp, Whiz Potter, Judy Solie and Judy McEwen.
A bridge, which began and ended 50 feet in the air, was one of several being built for the Snohomish County portion of the Everett-Tacoma freeway. The overpass was located at Maple Road and Alder Way and would one day carry Maple Road traffic over the new route.
25 years ago (1987)
Diane Dobler scored in the game’s third minute and Gina Martinis and Tanya Stevenson each added a goal late in the first half to lead Everett to a 3-0 non-conference girls soccer victory over Eastside Catholic in a game played in Everett. Laurie Marchand had the shutout in goal for Everett.
The Herald featured a Jewish family from Snohomish and how they shared their High Holy Days with their children. David and Ruth Peckansky were pictured with their sons, Micah and Matthew. They belonged to Temple Beth Or, the Reform community in Snohomish County.
