50 years ago (1962)

Snohomish County PUD dispatcher’s office was the nerve center of operations last weekend during the county’s worst storm in history. Dispatching crews to trouble areas were Merle Roberson, Walt Simonson, Ray Radke and Frank Whitchurch.

Everett Real Estate Board named Walter Hoover, Realtor of the Year — 1962, the first time the honor had been conferred on anyone here. Known as “Mr. Real Estate” by his association, Hoover was past president of both the Everett Board of Realtors and the Multiple Listing Service.

25 years ago (1987)

Marysville-Pilchuck’s Kevin Eubanks set a course record of 15:22 on the 3-mile course to win individual honors in the boys’ division at the North County Cross Country meet at Marysville. Everett, with Brent Reed finishing second and Kent Reed fourth, took the team title with 37 points.

In girls soccer at Stanwood, senior Lori Bucholz moved from her starting goalie position to left forward in the second half and scored the only goal in the game to defeat Bellingham.
