50 years ago (1962)

Barbara Dolliver, local writer, was to publish her first book in September. It was entitled “The Intelligent Woman’s Guide to Successful Organization and Club Work.” No “ivory tower” writer, she helped out in her husband James’ legal office and was raising three children.

Young art students at Sally Latchman’s classes at Black &King’s were creating forms in clay, gaining knowledge of form that they would interpret in their paintings. Among them were Kitty and Sara Taylor, Laina and Jackie Brown, Lisa Woods and Bill Merrick.

25 years ago (1987)

Snohomish Garden Club was having its annual garden tour the afternoon of July 19. Tickets were $5 per person, $4 per person for groups of five or more, and were sold the day of the tour at 426 Maple St. in Snohomish. Tickets could be ordered in advance by contacting Anita Halstead.

The Danny Ward Trio was entertaining folks Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at Nellie’s, located at the Tulalip Inn, just off I-5 at Marysville Exit 199. Hors d’oeuvres were half price from 4:30 to 6:30. Nellie’s advertised good food, good drinks and quiet conversation.
