Gilbert Alton, a Lake Stevens resident since 1911, was honored on his 109th birthday at Parkway Nursing Center in Snohomish. Donald Gilbert, of Everett, believed his father was the state’s oldest living resident. The elder Gilbert was a former tug operator for the old Rucker Brothers Mill on the lake.
Observing her 100th birthday next week was Carrie Vanassche of Arlington, known as “Granny Bang” to her friends and relatives. She would be honored at a reception at Sisco Heights Hall near Arlington.
