50 years ago (1962)

Norman Lowery, Everett High School basketball coach, was selected as Man of the Year in Sports at the annual banquet last night. Four hundred attended the fete at the Everett Golf and Country Club. Lowery’s exciting current team was rated first in state. He was presented the award by Joe E. Brown, long associated with sports as well as movies and stage roles.

Clyde and Larry Phillips, owners of the Coast-to-Coast store here, returned recently from the organization’s 32nd annual convention of the West Coast Division. The four-days of sessions on merchandising were held in the Multnomah Hotel in Portland.

25 years ago (1987)

David T. Critchfield had been promoted to vice president at Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith. He had been associated with the company for 10 years and was a senior financial consultant at the Everett office.

Rosemary H. Omlid had been named marketing administrator at Everett Federal Savings and Loan. She was responsible for the bank’s marketing and public relations programs as well as for internal customer service training. Omlid was previously with Pace Employment, MCI Telecommunications and Washington Mutual Savings Bank.
