50 years ago (1962)

Carol Conrad, Everett High School junior, accepted keys from Wally Rodland of Follestad Rambler as high school driving instructor Myron Williams looked on. The agency once again donated a new Rambler with dual controls for driving education.

Ernst Hardware officials announced the opening of a modern self-service hardware, lumber and Malmo Nursery shopping center in Everett in April. It would be at 4920 Evergreen Way in the building that housed a Tradewell grocery store until it closed Feb. 17. Ernst and Malmo were divisions of Seattle-based Pay’n Save Corporation.

25 years ago (1987)

Two longtime employees of the Snohomish County Treasurer’s Office who retired this week, Les Anderson and Elsie Grebis, were honored at a reception. Gary Raupach had been the new recording manager in the county auditor’s office since November.

Students at Everett Christian School were to take part in a cleanup of nearby Garfield Park. Administrator Ron Halma said students used the park a lot and felt the cleanup was a benefit to the Riverside community.
