50 YEARS AGO (1960)

Archbishop Thomas A. Connolly would return to Everett this Sunday for dedication and blessing of the new church and school buildings in St. Mary Magdalen parish, located on Seventh Avenue. A Solemn High Mass would follow celebrated by the Rev. William P. Lane, pastor.

Bridge authority Sam Gordon would appear in the Snohomish Eagles Hall on Oct. 26, under the auspices of the Altar Society of St. Michael’s Church. Tickets were available at Snohomish Bakery, Dr. Thomas Ginnaty’s office, Harmon’s Store, Old Inn Tavern, Fred’s Tavern and Noble’s Tavern.

25 YEARS AGO (1985)

Two south county food banks recently received the St. Mathews award, presented by Ecumenical Metropolitan Ministries and Northwest Harvest. Recipients were Edna Heglund, who donated the use of her house for the food bank operated by Terrace View Presbyterian Church, and the Edmonds United Methodist Church for its Carol Rowe Memorial food bank.

Andrea J. Ringsrud of Stanwood, an Air Force weather specialist serving in West Germany, was promoted to the rank of senior airman. Another promotion, this one in the Marine Corps, went to Brent Schaffer of Edmonds, to the rank of lance corporal.
