50 YEARS AGO (1960)
Loaf after loaf after loaf of bread went into the lunches prepared daily for schoolchildren. Watching Barbara Hoffman, director of the school lunch program for Everett Schools, and Barbara Bos, head cook at South Junior, preparing peanut butter sandwiches, was student cashier Pam Cleator.
Flashing victory smiles were Snohomish High School student body officers elected this week for the second semester. They were Howard Babcock, president; Dan Higgins, vice president; Jo Ann Laz, secretary; Darlene Howell, treasurer; and Ann Weld, assistant treasurer.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
It was hard to see from one end to the other on the 3100 block of Rockefeller as fog enveloped Everett and vicinity. So far it was a month of yo-yoing temperatures and little rain. Ordinarily there would be four inches of rainfall by this time, but there was only half an inch.
Radio station KRKO planned to change its call letters and move its studios to downtown Everett, co-owner Niles Fowler told city council members. The new call letters would be KABE, if the Federal Communications Commission gave permission, and the new location would be in the Cascade Savings and Loan Building at Hewitt and Colby.
