Special film showings around Snohomish County

Sno-King Meaningful Movies: “Promised Land,” which follows two tribes in the Pacific Northwest, the Duwamish and the Chinook, as they fight for the restoration of treaty rights they’ve long been denied, will be shown at 7 p.m. on May 12 at Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 8109 224 St. SW Edmonds. Diversity Film Series: The movies sponsored by Edmonds’ Diversity Commission are free and shown at noon on third Saturdays in March and April at the Edmonds Theater, 415 Main St. Arrive 15 minutes early. The final film in the series, on April 21, is “Out in America,” featuring stories of both prominent American LGBT figures and ordinary people from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities. Marine movies: Learn more about Puget Sound and the global marine environment with the Our Coast Community Film Series, running through April 25. The series focuses on salmon recovery, river restoration and coral reef protection, and also features discussions led by film directors and marine experts. Golden Era Sing-Along: A guided tour of musical memories. The audience is invited to sing along with legendary film, television and concert performers, presented as part of Edmonds Center for the Arts’ Dementia-Inclusive Series. The event begins at 10 a.m. May 5 at the arts center, 410 Fourth Ave. N. The event is designed with the accessibility of individuals with memory loss as a priority.
