Take a hike: Start the New Year off right by taking a hike as part of First Day Hike at a Washington state park. It’s part of a campaign to promote year-round use of the nation’s state park systems and encourage healthy living. This year, three Washington state parks are offering free guided walks Sunday with a cup of hot cocoa afterward. The hikes are at Deception Pass State Park, Oak Harbor; Fields Spring State Park, Anatone; and Lake Sylvia State Park, Montesano. For more info, read our story here.
Take the kids: The Imagine Children’s Museum has a Rockin New Year’s Eve party from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The event is free to members; general admission is $7.95. Children 12 months and under free. The event will celebrate New Years around the world with music and dance. Catch a concert: Edmonds bluesman LeRoy Bell, who was a finalist on Fox-TV’s “X Factor,” will play a New Year’s Eve concert at The Moore Theatre in Seattle. Find details in our story here.
