SEATTLE — A group that operates homeless shelters in Seattle reopened 15 of them Sunday and ended a demonstration in which the homeless had camped outside the King County Administration Building.

SHARE had closed its shelters to protest the end of the ride-free bus zone in downtown Seattle.

The group said it was opening the shelters after the county council authorized $250,000 for reduced-fare tickets to be released to human services agencies.

SHARE says it will hold an overnight campout Tuesday night at Westlake Park in downtown Seattle to press its message that “without shelter people die.”
