MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — A man and woman are displaced after a fire Thursday night in their Mountlake Terrace home.
They weren’t home when the fire started. Neighbors called 911 around 11:40 p.m. when they saw smoke rising from the one-story home in 23800 block of 54th Avenue, according to a South County Fire news release.
Within 15 minutes, crews from South County and Shoreline contained the fire to the attic and garage. The loss was estimated at more than $75,000.
South County Fire spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said support services were working with the displaced residents.
The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
It appeared to have started in the garage, according to South County Fire.
