SEATTLE — Two members of the Lummi tribe have been sentenced in the stabbing death of a third.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Seattle says Johnathan Casey Phair, 25, was sentenced Friday to five years in prison, while Dezi-Ray Thomas Louie, 22, received four years, both for involuntary manslaughter.
The two fought with Lamar Felipe James at a home on tribal land in December 2011 after a drug deal gone bad, and Phair stabbed James with a butcher knife, severing an artery. The two failed to call for help, then fled the home and burned their clothes.
