KELSO — The Cowlitz County sheriff’s office is picking up a $244,000 armored vehicle this summer.
The four-wheel drive Bearcat 4 can transport eight officers into dangerous situations with armored plates protecting them from small-arms fire.
The Daily News reported that the purchase was approved a Homeland Security regional council.
The vehicle will be assigned to the Lower Columbia SWAT Tactical Team and be available to respond to armed threats in Cowlitz, Wahkiakum, Skamania and Clark counties.
