SEATTLE — A fishing vessel fire off the Washington coast created a large plume of smoke that could be seen for miles.
U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Nathan Bradshaw said the boat was located more than 12 miles off the coast near Moclips.
Bradshaw said three people on board the vessel were rescued by another fishing boat Thursday afternoon. No injuries were reported at the time.
Bradshaw said despite the vessel’s fire system working, large plumes of smoke rose.
The 175-foot buoy tender Henry Blake responded as well as a helicopter.
