Not much surprising about this afternoon’s bill signing session.
No one showed up when Gov. Chris Gregoire penned her name on legislation cutting I-728 funding and delaying the start of paid family leave until at least 2011.
There was something new to see. The back of the governor’s hands were sunburned, real sunburned.
She said she didn’t feel pain in writing her name. “What hurt was these handshakes,” she said, referring to the greeting she gives everyone who comes in witness a signing and get in a photo.
She earned the burn from bike riding about 25 miles on the Chehalis Western trail.
Tomorrow might not bring as much pain as today. Big crowds are not expected when she signs the budget bill and other legislation cutting spending.
