TENINO — The Washington State Patrol said the occupants of a pickup truck are lucky to be alive after colliding with an Amtrak train traveling nearly 80 mph at a crossing in Tenino in Thurston County.
Trooper Guy Gill said three people were taken to a hospital Saturday afternoon with non-life-threatening injuries.
Thurston County sheriff’s Lt. Greg Elwin told KOMO the car was trying to turn around in a private drive at the crossing when it was sideswiped and knocked on its side.
