TACOMA — A University Place animal control officer is suspected of taking $1,400 from a crime scene.
The Pierce County sheriff’s office says two animal control officers were called to help Wednesday at a house where marijuana plants were found by deputies investigating a burglary.
Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer says some cash at the scene was missing after the animal control officers left. Deputies found the money in the animal control truck.
Both animal control officers denied taking the money. A 28-year-old was arrested for investigation of theft and tampering with evidence. The second officer remains under investigation.
