Special Senior Center celebration draws unique crowd
The Edmonds Senior Center each summer invites all its members who are age 90 or older to a special luncheon. This year’s 90+ Celebration was held July 28. Of the 144 members invited, about 60 attended, including two who have 100th birthdays this year.
The meal was sponsored by Edmonds Landing. Harpist Linda Khandro performed. Linda Whitesell, a retired geriatric nurse practitioner, also spoke.
Scout installs new flag pole at fair
Drew W. Carlson, along with Scouts from troops 86, 46 and 413, on Aug. 1 performed the first Flag Ceremony at the new Stanwood-Camano Community Fairgrounds nautical flagpole.
There also was a dedication ceremony.
Drew spoke about his Eagle Scout project and thanked the Fair Board for allowing him to build his project on the fairgrounds.
Drew will be a junior at Stanwood High School this fall. He is in the final stages of completing his Eagle Rank. Drew’s other activities include FFA, football and raising his beef and pig projects for local fairs and livestock shows.
Everett troop welcomes two Eagle Scouts
Bryan Bader and Dylan Scanes, both of Everett, are Troop 19’s newest Eagle Scouts.
Dylan’s Eagle project was installing distance markers at Langus Riverfront Park.
Bryan’s Eagle Scout project was building and installing a Little Free Library in Garfield Park with the Riverside Neighborhood Association.
