ARLINGTON — A new water-spray park could be coming to Arlington by next summer.
The Rotary Club of Arlington raised money for the park through the annual Fourth of July Duck Dash, city spokeswoman Kristin Banfield said. The new equipment will be installed at Haller Park on West Avenue. The timeline is not final.
The Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians also is contributing to the project, Banfield said.
“So we can provide a safe place for kids to experience the water without getting in the river,” she said.
Additional work is planned at Haller Park in the coming years.
The city recently got a $50,000 award from the county, Banfield said. Some of that will be used to improve the restrooms at the park, 1100 West Ave. The restrooms will become more accessible for people with disabilities, and will be moved out of flood-prone areas, she said. The city expects to ask the state for additional money for the project and will use some existing money.
The Haller Park restroom project should wrap up by fall 2015. Restroom improvements also are planned at the county’s Twin Rivers Park nearby.
