Arlington sergeant named employee of year

On May 20, the Arlington City Council honored Sgt. Mark Pennington as the city’s 2012 police employee of the year.

The award was determined by a department-wide vote, according to the city’s weekly newsletter.

Pennington was described in the newsletter as a leader who motivates others and makes Arlington a better place.

He’s been with the department since 1999.
