Armored vehicle guard shoots robbery suspect

EUGENE, Ore. — Eugene police say they’re investigating the shooting of man who tried to rob an armored bank vehicle at an Albertsons store.

Investigators said one of the armored vehicle’s guards shot the suspect multiple times after the man attempted to rob the armored truck with a can of mace and a screwdriver.

The shooting happened about 3:40 p.m. on Saturday.

After the shots were fired, the armored truck employee and his partner left the scene in a vehicle, travelled a short distance to a more secure area and called 911.

Police found the male suspect with gunshot wounds and he was taken to a local hospital. The armored truck employees were not injured in the incident.
