Everett: Public hearing on $20 car tabs Wednesday
A public hearing will be held during the City Council meeting Wednesday, Aug. 6, on proposed legislation to adopt a $20 vehicle license fee within the city. The fee is part of Mayor Ray Stephanson’s proposed package of budget balancing measures, and is projected to raise $1.5 million to pay for transportation projects in 2015.
On July 30, the city council created a Transportation Benefit District, a separate taxing authority covering the entire city which can enact a car tab fee of up to $20, and whose board of directors is comprised of the city council members. Implementing the car tab fee is the only item on the district’s agenda Wednesday.
The district meeting will take place during the city council’s regular session, which begins at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 3002 Wetmore Ave.

The Macks allege in their suit that Marysville is using its code enforcement ordinances to drive them out of the city.
