The course qualifies participants for the boater education certification required for all boat operators born in 1955 or later.

Marysville: City moves to biennial budgetingThe Marysville City Council has adopted a two-year budget cycle that will start in 2015. The intent is to make long range and strategic planning easier and to save time. City Administrator Gloria Hirashima said the city has been doing more long-term planning in recent years, resulting in improvements in the city’s overall financial health. The ordinance adopted by the city institutionalizes some of those practices, but it also will allow the council to have a mid-biennium review of the budget to make any adjustments.
Mill Creek: Road work set to continueDrivers in Mill Creek should expect significant delays and are advised to take alternate routes during road work on city streets.
The paving work along 35th Avenue SE between Seattle Hill Road and 132nd Street SE is expected to take place this week. The weather-dependent work is scheduled at night to minimize traffic problems and shorten the time needed to complete the job.
Road work on 148th Street SE between Village Green Drive and 35th Avenue SE has been postponed for a week due to weather concerns. It has been tentatively rescheduled to begin Friday.

Snohomish: Street overlay project under wayThe overlay work on Second Street in Snohomish from Avenue D to Cedar Avenue was scheduled to begin Monday.
Lakeridge Paving Co. was awarded the construction contract. The work is expected to take about two months.
Construction on Second Street from Avenue D to Avenue H is set to start later this summer. Funding for the overlay was awarded to the city by the State Transportation Improvement Board in November.
