Everett: Monte Cristo award nominations
The city of Everett’s Office of Neighborhoods is accepting nominations for the 18th annual Monte Cristo Awards, an honor given to property owners who have shown pride in their property.
Nominations will be accepted through June 1. Awards are given in three categories: Rejuvenation and Transformation, Pride of the Neighborhood and Neighborhood Friendly Business.
Nomination forms are available to pick up at the Everett Library branches, the city of Everett’s office lobby in the Wall Street Building, the PUD, and at local home improvement, paint and lumber stores and through neighborhood associations.

Lynnwood: Plant sale planned for Saturday
The Alderwood Garden Club Spring Plant Sale will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Park, 19921 Poplar Way in Lynnwood.
Perennials, bulbs, herbs, annuals and various specialty plants are featured. There also will be many varieties of day lilies.
Proceeds benefit the Edmonds Community College Foundation Scholarship Fund.
Mill Creek: Meet authors at book sale
The Friends of the Mill Creek Library plans its book sale 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the library, 15429 Bothell-Everett Highway, Mill Creek. Most items are 25 cents to $1. A half-price sale starts at 2 p.m.
Meet two local authors at the event: at 11 a.m., Janet Robertson, author of “All of Our Yesterdays,” and at 11:30 a.m., Amy Modica Myers, author of “The Difference Between a Boy and a Man.”
Mukilteo: Shred papers, recycle cellphones
Bring your documents and old cellphones to an event planned from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Harbour Pointe Retirement Community in the north parking lot at 10200 Harbour Place (behind Walgreen’s). This event is co-sponsored by the Better Business Bureau and Acey’s Painting, Mukilteo. People can drop off up to 3 grocery bags or boxes of documents to be securely shredded on-the-spot. No cardboard or 3-ring binders are accepted. Cellphones collected by BBB will be safely recycled courtesy of HopeLine. All phones will be wiped of stored data prior to recycling.
